It’s one of the biggest, most beautiful days of your life. You want everything to go perfect right?
Here is my recommendations when it comes to the “Do’s and Don’ts” of wedding tan.
DO: Book your bride/groom/bridal party tanning 2-3 days before the event. This gives enough time for the bronzer to come off ensuring no rub-off on the dress. It also allows sufficient time for your tan to be fully developed and in “Full Glow Mode”. Tan starts to develop immediately but can continue to develop for up to 24 hours.
DO: Your research
I cannot stress this enough! Not all artists are the same, I highly recommend word of mouth and google reviews, be aware that the beauty industry is not regulated here. Try find someone who is a specialist in tanning (like me), so you can be assured that you’re in the right hands.
DO: Schedule a Trial session
Ensure that your spray tan technician has many different tans. (Example: Violet undertone for deeper colour, Golden undertone for natural glow) etc. Your spray tan technician should be giving you a quick consultation to ensure you’re both on the same page. What you may deem as “Medium” or “Dark” may be different to what she may. I go through my portfolio with all of my clients to get an idea of their most desirable depth of colour. Scheduling a trial allows you to have a baseline so you know on the big day whether any adjustments need to be made for example, slightly lighter etc.
DO: Listen to your Spray Tan Technician tips
As a spray tan expert myself, I cannot stress the importance of clients doing their prep before the appointment. I have the easy job of spraying you, ensuring you come to your appointment prepared by doing simple 2-3 steps will ensure that your skin is in its best possible condition to absorb the tan evenly. I give full client prep instructions upon booking for all of my clients.
DON’T: Be afraid to ask questions.
I love when my clients ask me questions, it gives me the opportunity to put them at ease and assure them they are in the best hands.
DON’T: Forget your bridal party!
There is nothing more beautiful and cohesive looking in your professional photographs than the bridal party all having a slight sun kissed glow on your big day! I have also spray tanned Grooms and Groomsmen. There is nothing wrong with wanting a healthier complexion and an even skin tone on your big day!
DON’T: Skip out on your aftercare.
Now that you have your tan on, it is your responsibility to keep it perfect for your big day. Your spray tan technician should give you aftercare advice on how to maintain the tan in the best way possible.
