Here are some of my top tips when choosing a Spray tanner to think about. 1- We are NOT all created equal, anyone can do a day course in Tanning! Find someone who is knowledgeable & passionate in their field. Be mindful that the beauty industry is not regulated here, unlike where I come from, you have to be qualified beauty therapist before taking on any other beauty related courses. 2- All tans are NOT created equal. What you put on your body gets absorbed into your bloodstream in less than 30 seconds. So what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it. Tancouver tans are carefully selected, top tier, luxury tanning solutions 3- Always do your homework! Google reviews, word of mouth and portfolio is all something to take into consideration before choosing a tanner. 4- Remember Spray tanning is one of the only beauty services that has to rely on the client for the job to be done with 100% satisfaction! A spray tan is 50% the skill of the technician and 50% client prep and aftercare. You cant expect an even, flawless tan if you haven't prepared your skin before coming! We aren’t miracle workers! 5- 🚩🚩🚩If your spray tanner doesn’t give you any advice on how to prep your skin or advise aftercare - RED F*^CKING FLAG! 6- Just like everything, we all have completely different skin tones! This is why I have a couple different (carefully selected for my market) tanning solutions which I custom mix for each individuals skin tone. I look at your colouring, see how your skin would naturally tan in The Sun, and make a blend to replicate that . If your tanner only has one specific tan, maybe it's time for a change.
7- Don't be afraid to ask questions! It is the best way to put your mind at ease and give you confidence that your Spray Tanner knows what he/she is talking about.
8- Review & Refer - If you do have a ride or die spray tanner, giving them a quick and simple google review on your phone and recommending people to go helps people like us out so much. Dropping your service providers into Bridal facebook groups I frequently see people doing is a great way to support your local artists.
9- Forget me not - I often find it so challenging to get clients to remember to tag me in wedding photos for example, while other artists are there the day of (hair, make up), Tanners are often left behind and forgotten about as we do all of our work before your big day or special occasion.
10- Photos - Spray Tanners are one of the only beauty services that cannot get our own photos of our finished clients as we have to wait for the tan to develop overnight for the finished result. We really cannot grow a business without our clients help.
